WANDERLUST: A TRAVELLER’S CURATED WARDROBE AT ISABEL MARANT SS27
This season's menswear collection is the epitome of quiet confidence, reaffirming the house's enduring belief that the most compelling clothes are those that feel lived in rather than newly acquired.
Creative director Kim Bekker continues to refine the language of Isabel Marant menswear, presenting a wardrobe that feels less designed than discovered. This is clothing imagined as a collection of memories—pieces gathered over years of travel, collected carefully, and shaped by experience. Every jacket, shirt, and pair of trousers appears to carry its own history.
Materials play a central role. Linen, chambray, suede, washed denim, and lightweight knits are used in a way that highlights softness and natural ageing. Many pieces appear intentionally faded or softened in finish, reinforcing the idea of clothing that has been worn and kept rather than recently acquired. The colour palette supports this direction, with earthy tones such as sand, rust, olive, tobacco, faded indigo, and off-white. These colours are consistent throughout the collection and help unify the looks without relying on strong contrast or seasonal colour trends.
Silhouettes remain relaxed but controlled. Tailoring is loose without becoming oversized, and trousers are cut with ease, often featuring pleats or drawstring details. Jackets and shirts are layered simply, focusing on practicality and everyday wearability rather than formal structure.
Styling is deliberately understated. Pieces are combined in a way that suggests natural dressing rather than highly constructed runway looks. Accessories such as belts, scarves, and jewellery appear layered but not overly coordinated, reinforcing the idea of personal accumulation rather than styling precision.
While the collection does not introduce significant new silhouettes or formal innovation, it strengthens the label’s position within contemporary menswear focused on relaxed tailoring and everyday luxury.
